Really Confused

Well the Catoctin 50k has come and gone. And gone with it was a dnf from myself. The week leading up to the race I was pretty sick. I also put in 46 1/2 hours at work, with a 11 1/2 hour day the day before the race. I just did'nt have it at all. There was no desire to finish the race. I dropped at 17 miles in. My next race will be the Freedoms Run marathon. And after that, Fire On The Mountain 50k. After that, I am not sure about my future with running.

I am not sure if it's my work schedule, the lack of time I get to spend with my family. Or if I just lost my desire to get out there everyday and run. When I do get out there I feel great. I love it. It's just the whole idea of getting out there. I know I have a commitment to the Companies that sponsor me. That's the reason I still get out there and do it. If anyone stumbles onto this, help me out. Tell me what to so because I am really confused.

Catoctin Trail: Part Two

Catoctin Trail: Part Two

Last Saturday we ran some of the course that the Catoctin 50k is run on. Today I had the chance to run it again. This time we did'nt start off at the Tea Room, which is the start of the Cat 50k. We started at Hamburg Road, which is somewhere around the 7 to 8 mile point. It starts out somewhat flat. The trail is not groomed and is really super rocky at points.

There is still a good amount of climbing on this section. I believe the whole Blue Trail is rated moderate to technical. I think I lost Steve about 2 miles in. I wanted to conserve on the way out and maintain on the way back. Steve was going for distance so he ran more than run-walk. On the turn around he only had me by a half a mile so I was stoked on that. We caught back up to some friends that were out doing 20. Steve ended up with 16 and me 15.5. I met some of the other runners for the first time. One talked to me about her kids and how my wife should get together with her to have play dates. I ended up passing her and never did see her until the end. By then she was tired and just left. Oh well, we've got other

I did almost tramp right down on a 4 to 5+ foot mountain black snake. This thing was thick!! The run overall was good. I took my VESPA 60 minutes before we started and one when I was 2 hours in. I only drank water and took no food until I got home. Mentally I felt great. I just need to start really running. I've got a major goal at the end of August that I want to achieve. Anywho, whomever drifts by and reads this, thanks!!

Catoctin Trail Run

The above photo's were taken today, June 25th. This is part of the Catoctin Trail, on the Blue Blaze section. It is rated moderate to difficult. And they are'nt kidding. We'll be running the Catoctin 50k on July 30th. So today we went down and put in 10 to 11 miles. The sections we ran had hardly any flat sections. It was basically long rocky downhills and then right back up rocky inclines. The plan is to go back down next weekend for some more training.

I took my VESPA All Natural Amino Acid Supplement before the run and felt good throughout. My legs were beat up, but that's another story. A few hour run out there is like running three hour's on flat. For the rest of the day and evening I have been watching the Western States 100 unfold. It won't be too much longer. Kilian was a few minutes ahead of Mike Wolfe. I am going to end this and go see the end. Keep running!!

Back Up Finally

Hi to those who pass this blog by when searching. Hi to my beautiful wife and my now two year old daughter. Emily. It's her 2nd Birthday today and we are going to have so much fun. I will be back to doing daily run's and post's. With Injinji getting their website updated, it's time I get this blog back up and running as well. I just want to thank Injinji for sponsoring me for another year of Running. 2011 has been good so far. I am also running for VESPA as well. They are a great Company and if you get the chance, check them both out. This year is going to be good for running. I have a special long run planned at the end of August, which will 74 miles. I also have the Catoctin 50k coming up on July 31st. I will either pick the Fire On The Mountain 50k in October of the JFK 50 Mile in November. Plus a race thrown in here and there just for the fun of it. Anwho, it's late and I need to get going. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day. Happy Birthday Emily Grace!! Daddy Loves You!!
