Life As I Know It

For anyone passing by or who came to me via the website, Thank You.

It's been super hectic with my family as of late. Honestly, it's been that way for the past 12 months. Our little daughter is about to turn the Big 1 in a matter of days. It's funny because when people would tell us to cherish our time with Emily, that it would go fast, we just shook our heads. But one thing is certain ... it really does go fast!! She is our very first baby and we have learned as much as Parents. We have watched her blossom into this almost walking, very vocal, and most loving baby. We couldn't be happier!!

This past January I was so excited when Injinji Performance Wear picked me up as a Sponsored Athlete. I am now a full fledged member of their Ultra Running Team. They are a great company and I love being a part of the "Team". If you get a chance and you want to experience the greatest Toe Sock on the planet, stop by and pick out a pair that suits you.

Right now I am gearing up to run the Burning River 100 Mile Ultra in Ohio. The date is July-31 and Aug-1st. It's going to be my very first 100 mile Ultra and will test not only my physical ability, but my mental toughness as well. I have done a bunce of 50 milers before and numerous 50k's but 100 miles ... wow, the runners that finish them, they are the toughest of the tough.

I have been amping up my miles to prepare for what is to come. I have had some nice weeks of 80+ miles and today I got a real nice 14 miler done on the very muddy C&O Canal here in Williamsport Maryland. I averaged 8:23 per mile as an overall pace and am pleased with that.

After the Burning River 100 I will be concentrating on the Columbus Marathon in early October. I was going to do to the JFK 50 for the 8th consecutive time but the fee has went up again this year so I am going to run somewhere else. Can you believe paying $145.00 to run a 50 mile race?? One that is fully sponsored and one that the race director doesn't have to pay out the yang yang to make happen. Plus he himself made $73,000 dollars profit last year from doing the JFK 50. I would much rather pay to run somewhere where the money goes to a good cause or charity, not to one person.

Anywho, it's time to load up on some food and play with my daughter. Have a great day everyone.
